My wife and I love this place! We both get steak, I always get a Ribeye, medium rare. The food has been excellent every time. They offered us a free desert on our anniversary, and it was just as delicious as the food. People ask about price...with two steaks, two sides and gratuity we spend around $130. It's worth it every time we go! There's one thing for sure...Yelp reviews will most often tell you more about the PERSON reviewing than they will about the ESTABLISHMENT being reviewed. Any restaurant or business will do just about anything to make it's customers happy, so if you leave without a smile on your face, it's 100% your fault. Steaks undercooked? Tell someone, and they'll replace it. Were you dissatisfied with any part of the experience? Tell your waiter, and they'll make it right and make sure you're 100% incentivized to return. We haven't had any problems at Ruth's Chris in Salt Lake, but when we do, we're confident they'll take care of it. A++ for Ruth's Chris!

Came here with friends for the dineoround thing and let me say it was fantastic. Parking by your self was a bit tough, but they do offer valet parking for $5. Best option ever. When walking into this place it felt like a totally different change. The ambiance was very fancy like. Going these casually I felt like a fish out of water. The waiter was super friendly, but it got a bit confusing because we had someone telling us they were our waiter and then another person telling us the same thing. They do have two waiters but one is just a water waiter. Let's go to the food now. We all did dineoround and the choices wasn't bad. I got the Cesar salad, 6 oz filet with shrimp, mash potatoes, and the cheesecake top with berries. The salad was delicious and it had a hint of tangy taste. The steak was really good, tender and juicy, the shrimp was cooked just right. The mash potatoes was a bit on the oily side for me. The cheese cake was delicious and not that sweet. Definitely would come here again esp with the romantic environment for a date.

This is my third time here but this time was special it was my 21st birthday. So service wise our waiter did an average job waiting the table . These type of establishment an average waiter says something because my definition of average mean they bring the food, take the order, bring the bill and maybe check in once in a while. We all felt like he didn't want to wait us, maybe he had a bad night I don't know but I think it's because we look young. I don't know what it is with restaurant and seeing a young group of girls come in, I think it's because they assume we're going to be a hassle and probably don't know how to tip if any at all. Unfortunately, I'm a waitress myself which is why I notice service that is not good. He made us feel like we were a hassle to his night which kinda ruined a part of the experience for us but throughout the night we just got over the situation. It was one of those situation where we could just tell that he was not really happy waiting our table. After we left we were comparing the service experience to places like valter's and Christopher's. Now let's talk about the food, The house salad which I believe had arugula in there as well was delicious but it was overly drench with vinaigrette. One friend thought the caesar was good the other was not a fan of the dressing. Seared ahi was disappointing by no fault of the restaurant, we didn't careful read that the sauce had wasabi or some kind of mustard. The spicy lobster was good and was liked by my friends. The scallop special was great as well, didn't care for the black sauce though. My 2 friend thought it was bland. For the main course we all had the 6 oz filet and shrimp. The shrimp on top weren't special, they were just shrimp but the steak was amazing as always, if it wasn't I would know why i would come here. When they brought out the sides it weren't introduced to us what they were , I mean we ordered so much we forgot so it took us a while to discover why our asparagus had no hollandaise sauce on top. It was because it was sitting somewhere on the table no one could see. Please get the pecan sweet potato , it was amazing. That could be my dessert. I like the special side of the night which was shiitake mushroom sauté in herb. The mashed potato were well made. For dessert we had cheesecake , I'm not a fan of cheesecake at all and was about to order their creme brûlée and flourless chocolate cake but I tried the cheesecake and they were great. I would probably never get it again because I'm not a fan of cheesecake but it had the perfect size, consistency, and crumbs to cheesecake ratio. Anyway, I would come here again for steak on my own maybe with my mom. I just love steak . I really think people treat me different at establishments when I come alone because I just look young. For special occasion, we're not sure anymore. We might prefer to go to places where we feel more comfortable for high end restaurants in Utah. There's just a type of service we're used to getting at other places that we couldn't get here. Service and food are things that make certain restaurant a regular to us. We're not uptight so when we go out to restaurant we want great food, atmosphere, and vibe. We enjoy a meal with elbow on a table if we feel like it because we're not there to pretend to fit into a certain, we're strictly there to enjoy food and conversation. 3.5 is not an option , so 4 it is .

Just a quick review on the location. Walking distance to most downtown locations makes it covenant to all the hotels. No wait to eat - kinda. We were the only ones in the lobby, they said tables were available when we arrived, but it still took over 10 minutes to get seated (we did not have a reservation but again, they said they had availability). Our waiter was a name dropper. Apparently he is friends with every professional athlete in America. What that does not get you is a refill on your water because he's too busy talking. I enjoy Ruth's steaks but they are not on my top 10 list. It's a good meal but this location did nothing to make it memorable.

We treated ourselves to dinner for Grandparent's Day (didn't know there was such a day but were looking for a reason to go out) and had excellent service with a delicious dinner. Four of us shared lobster macaroni and crab cakes for appetizers. The steaks ordered were New York, Rib Eye and Filet Mignon - all cooked as expected! Sides with dinner were yummy - garlic mashed potatoes, corn and mushrooms. This restaurant has not disappointed on three trips here. The friends who joined us eat here regularly and rave about the food. Although expensive, we will return for another special evening.

Sizzling steak in butter that melts in my mouth? Yes please, any day! Besides the absolute phenomenal food, the servers and management know what they are doing here. You truly are treated like a million bucks, and I've built a relationship with the management staff they are that good. They are wonderful with gluten free for us celiacs out there and take cross-contamination seriously

Expensive. Delicious. I ordered the ribeye and it was amazing. It was flavorful and quite large. I only ate about a quarter of it because I had ordered the French onion soup (also amazing), the mac n cheese and the potatoes au gratin. I was skeptical to go because of how expensive it is, but my brother was right this place is worth every dollar you pay. I consider throwing up to eat more, but I instead chose a food coma afterward. (I in no way condone eating disorders of any kind, except those that lead to food comas)

Yeah, this place is awesome. We're not even huge steak eaters, but with all the rave we figured we'd give it a try for our anniversary, and their filet was wicked delicious. Buttery, juicy, tender, perfect. What we really loved, as well, was the Ahi Tuna appetizer and the Berries & Cream dessert. I'd go there over and over just to have those two items. Definitely a place to go for a special occasion.

I took my family, and two of my son's good friends to dinner here last Friday night. He picked the place to celebrate his graduation from the University of Utah (which occurred just a few hours prior to dining.) Frankly, I was really looking forward to Ruth's, as my wife and I haven't been to one in years (at this location and at Ruth's Chris in Scottsdale, AZ.) This was my son's first experience with a high end steak restaurant. Except that it was just "A-OK"...3 stars this visit. Some upsides: Ali and Jesus did a find job waiting on the six of us; the food was delicious. Some downsides: The wait to get our adult beverages served from the bar was waaaay too long; everything remains a la carte; the wait for the main courses to be served was also waaaay too long; I ordered one of the specials...a bone-in filet...which started off nicely, but the closer I got to the bone, the tougher it got (won't be ordering that again...); we also ordered a seventh filet and baked potato to take to another individual who was not able to join us that evening...so with a gratuity, the bill came to exactly $700.00. When you pay that much, I want to be WOWED and have my socks roll up and down real fast...but I didn't come away with that feeling. Maybe I am getting more and more discriminating in my old age, but after having a 3-star experience here on Friday, nice places like this keep losing their luster. So what can I say...good attentive service (tarnished by a SLOW bar and SLOW kitchen); good tasting steaks (my son...the graduate and Rugby player...devoured the Porterhouse for two all by himself...yes, 40 oz, $85), and some nice desserts. Overall, a nice celebration for four years of hard work. If you want to go and experience Ruth's...do it, but be prepared to pay what I consider are some overly steep prices for the experience. Probably won't be going back any time soon. I agree with Liz R...there are some better fine dining options in SLC. --------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: 5-12-2015: I was pleasantly surprised when I received a call from the General Manager of Ruth's Chris SLC on the 12th. He was very gracious and apologized for not blowing my socks off at this last experience on the 8th of May. He said he would be speaking to his bar and kitchen staff regarding my comments above, and was very receptive to my comments. I suspect that this property is in good hands with leadership like this, and maybe on my next visit I will see a marked improvement. Here's to everyone getting their socks blown off by Ruth's Chris! - Denhabr @ 5-13-2015.

I came here for my friends birthday and absolutely loved it! The service was impeccable and they even put a card on the table wishing my friend a happy birthday. The sweet potato casserole is out of this world, the lobster bisque was creamy and flavorful, and the banana cream tart made an incredible dessert! I got a sirloin steak and it was excellent, but I tried my friends ribeye steak and wish I would've gotten that. The extra fat on the meat gave it a really nice flavor. I recommend getting the blue cheese crumbles on top of your steak. If you go before 6:30 PM, you can get an amazing deal with their prime time specials. I recommend you upgrade your appetizer and dessert for only three dollars each. It opens up a lot more options to you and gives you bigger portions of each.

Meh.... That was the experience I had coming here. I wanted to take my parents out for a "Wow experience" for their 70th birthday. My dad loves steak and is a big fan of Texas Roadhouse. I wanted to take it up a notch and try this fine dining experience. My reservations were at 5:00. We did not leave the restaurant until 7:20. We did not order anything elaborate, drinks, or do anything else that would delay our meal. Several tables were seated after us and we're getting meals and desserts before we saw anything. The waiter after about forty minutes asked us again how we wanted or steaks. I seriously think they forgot us. My wife and parents loved their steaks. I've had better. The waiter apologized for the service and stated they were on a skeleton staff. Yet everyone else seemed to get their food quickly. The only thing that wowed me was how I was held captive for the next item to come. I work too hard for my money for an experience like this. I guess from reading other reviews my expectations were too high. On a final note, the manager has called and wanted to talk about my experience. I know they care about what happened but it still does not change what happened.

i recently came here and it's as good as ever! they now have an official gluten free menu which has several options. i discovered a new favorite appetizer, the crabtini. it's so delicious with a light mustard flavor and yummy vinaigrette. it was so good, that when i discovered they couldn't make a side i wanted gluten free, i ended up ordering another crabtini instead! my filet mignon came out sizzling on a hot plate with butter and it was cooked perfectly as it always is. overall still a great place to eat steak and my personal favorite steak house in salt lake.

Funny to go to an awesome steak joint and order chicken? I know right. It was so delicious, the flavors and juiciness to the center was just what I needed. :-) They had a hard time keeping my water filled but other than that it was a most excellent meal.

Blew my mind good! All about the sweet potato pie and banana cream pie! Oh and the steak was good too!

Okay. For the price there are better fine dining options in Salt Lake. The steaks we ordered were fantastic and cooked well. (my husband ordered the ribeye and I ordered filet medallions) The side dishes and salads were just okay - not worth the heavy price and they were nothing special. The service and atmosphere were great but it doesn't earn them any extra stars in my opinion because I feel that is generally expected when paying $60 or more per person for a meal.

I came here for the dine o round and I'm sure glad I did. I ordered the 6 oz filet and shrimp. My steak was cooked perfectly, I got it med rare. My friend's steak on the other hand was over cooked. The steak was seasoned perfectly. There was no need to add anything else. You could definitely taste the butter which I don't mind cause I like butter. The butter flavor was not overwhelming though. Now, if you like shrimp, you're in for a treat. The shrimp isn't a tiny little one but a jumbo succulent one. We got our dessert to go, I got the berries and cream. My friend got the cheesecake. I would totally recommend the cheesecake over the cream and berries. I didn't try the cheesecake though. I just thought my berries and cream wasn't that great. the cream was liquidity. As far as service goes, it was great. We were checked on regularly but not too much.

My coworkers took me here as my going-away present, and I can't express how much I appreciated the service and amazing food! The server was very attentive and friendly, and also congratulated me on my upcoming journey. For those who haven't been here before, it's definitely on the higher end for the budget conscious; overall, if you're on a tight-budget, don't come here, otherwise you can't really enjoy yourself. However, you definitely get what you pay for. EVERYTHING I ate was an explosion of flavor. We had the spicy lobster for an appetizer, which is a MUST. I had the most amazing ribeye steak in my life. For the sides we had the sweet potatoes (another MUST try because it tastes like candy) then the most delicious cheesecake. No over-exaggeration from here; I was thoroughly impressed. Very classy, professional and delicious, and it's hard to nail everything. Best dining experience I've had in Utah. Definitely bringing a date here next time.

This is where to go when you want to spend the money in a place that fires on all cylinders! Service and atmosphere: best in town for its price. The steaks, drinks and deserts all excellent. BEST service in town. If I had to make ONE suggestion and explain why this isn't 5 stars: Don't let people (like my wife) order a steak meant to be medium well at best, well done. I tried to talk her out of a well done filet, but she wouldn't listen to me because I am apparently a moron. Don't be afraid to tell someone WHY that's a bad idea and have the wait staff be able to say so too! By the time a filet is well done in the middle.. ..it's bordering on burnt on the outside. Big surprise: She didn't like it. I'm not dinging you for bringing exactly what the customer asked for.... but for most people they don't get to a place like this very often and you are the professionals. Let them know when something is a bad idea, they will appreciate it. We have been back several times and will continue to recommend this place!

The best steak I have ever eaten. It's like a piece of heaven on earth. This is a very nice place and I can only afford going on very special occasions but it NEVER disappoints! The sweet potato casserole is to die for. The steaks are always so tender and flavorful. You have to get the blue cheese on your steak. No steak sauce is ever needed!! By far the best steaks and nothing compares!

Best steak of our lives. We avoid eating meat often, especially red meat, but when we do, we want quality. This was incredible and the service, unbeatable. Go and share the filet for two with someone... amazing.

As a traveling consultant - I frequent up-scale steakhouses across the country. After a long day of travel an meetings, I was excited to dine at Ruth's Chris- Flying solo I ate at the bar, order a glass of wine and the ribeye along with the au gratin potatoes. I was really disappointed on many levels. The bar staff was unfriendly, short, and lack any customer services skills outside of "what do you want?" Dining at an upscale restaurant you'd expect some level of welcomeness. The ribeye came out looking great, but after a few bites I realized I paid $43 for salt with a side of meat. Each bite all I tasted was salt - no complex flavors from the marbling etc. To be honest it was the leanest ribeye I've seen - great that it was lean and had more meat, but lacked any flavor at all - If I wanted a lean cut of meat I would have ordered the filet. Sadly the au gratin potatoes were terrible as well- what was good flavor in the sauce/cheese was ruined by eating hardly cooked potatoes.

Petite filets, wedge salads, asparagus with hollandaise, au gratin potatoes, french press coffee and creme brûlée, It was an incredible meal. Hats off to the chef and Don, a server extraordinaire. For sure one of the better places to get steak in Salt Lake City.

We came here expecting typical chain steakhouse fare, but we left very impressed. We had a Caesar salad, and lobster bisque which were both good. The Filet was so tender and flavourful. I also highly recommend the porterhouse for two! The creamed spinach and mashed potatoes were decent as well. My favorite part is that they serve the steaks on sizzling plates of seasoned butter. For dessert, I had an apple pie which was just okay- nothing spectacular. Definitely come here for the steaks. High quality meat with great seasonings. We are already looking forward to our next meal here! ** This review is for this location only. We weren't very impressed at the park city location.

We went here for our two year anniversary, and received the royal treatment. The service was excellent, the food was incredible, and the ambiance was very fancy, calm, and quiet. For an appetizer we had crab cakes, sounded weird, but the menu said it was a specialty so we were brave. Delectable. I ordered the petite steaks and shrimp with sweet potato casserole and fresh asparagus and each bite was to die for. Best steak I've ever had. And .. As if the entire experience wasn't already great, they gave us our choice of a complimentary dessert for our anniversary.

Not all Ruth's Chris Steak Houses are created equal... But this one is a real treat. My wife and I have gone here too many times to count, and we are always quite delighted by the staff here. The food is bomb, the desserts are other-wordly (especially the Creme Brûlée... I've had an unconscionable amount of this dessert in my short life and can still say with confidence that Ruth's has the best I've ever enjoyed). The ambience is also quite nice. If there's a downside... It's how heavy the food is on the bod. It's surely a place to indulge the senses :)

The steak is the best steak in town!!! Went with a big group of guys from work and it was a good atmosphere for that. The waiter was a little slow but other than that I would recommend going!

First time at this location last evening was disappointing. We were prepared to pay, utilizing Costco gift cards, which advertise, "Perfect Steak!". Our disappointment was in the quality of steak cuts. Out of 3 filets cooked medium rare, only one looked and tasted perfect. The other two were oddly shaped, had unchewable connective tissues, and were overcooked. The fourth person had a very disappointing ribeye, extremely tough. She was only able to eat around the edges. So RCSH is about the same as other steakhouses, in that it's luck of the draw when your steak arrives, if you will get a good steak or a poor cut/poor cook. For our party it was only 25% perfect, hence 3 stars deducted above. Sides were also disappointing: undercooked mushrooms, unexpected donut-sized onion rings. Best to stay with the shoestring potatoes or sweet potato casserole. We avoided the other vegetables at recommendation of our associate who had been here several times before. Salads were standard, nothing special. One person enjoyed an excellent French onion soup. Also, the ahi tuna was good, but we came for the steak. Seating was first table in the entrance in a high traffic area, with blasts of cold air coming in with every arriving party. We were looking forward to a great evening. Outside of this meal event, it was.

Service was ok. Steaks were large but had almost no flavor. Salad had almost nothing green in it. Outrageous prices for an unremarkable meal. $290 for three people eating steaks n one beer.

I love savory food and this place lives up to that! My favorites are the onion rings with the dipping sauce and the sweet potatoes with the pecan crust topping! I recently tried their au gratin potatoes but wasn't thrilled. Mine are better lol. The garlic flavor in it was overwhelming and just not cheesy enough! Still adore this restaurant. We will be back!

Nom nom nom... Had a client dinner at Ruth's now mind you, I have eaten at Ruth's in a number of States (and "states") and this ranks up there in the top 2. The ribeye was perfection as were the side dishes (baked calliflower, mashed pots). I'm drooling just recalling the nom. Wow. After I was finished w the meal there was really no need to wash the plate. Parking is an issue but in this case I walked over from the hotel. Damn that was good ribeye (still dreaming of it...)

I took my husband there for Father's day. We have another favorite steak place that we love, but he decided to try something new. I knew it would be crowded so I specifically asked for a nice away table that was peaceful. Having never been there I didn't know that the tables were placed closely together and the out of the way/peaceful tables were few and FAR between. Having said that, it still wouldn't have been a problem if they hadn't sat us next to a table with two children around the ages of 4 and 8. The 4 year old acted his age and was all over the place. The 8 year old, when she wasn't talking to us (yes to us) she was staring at my husband while he ate. The people were nice. But since they only ordered fries for the kids, I'm not sure why they didn't pick a more child friendly place. BUT they wanted to be there so that's fine. But I didn't appreciate splurging on a nice $280 (inc. tip) dinner to have an 8 year old stare and talk the entire time. It was FAR from peaceful. I told the host this as we left and he shrugged and said, it is Father's day, (again which was why I specifically requested something more peaceful) and then said he hoped we'd have a better experience next time. There won't be a next time. While the food was good, our favorite place is EVERY bit as good and has the privacy of comfortable booths where you NEVER see the people next to you. So there will be no repeat business from us, and I wouldn't recommend it.

I have eaten at this location twice and both were highly pleasurable experiences. I started off each meal with a Diet Coke and lime. Instead placing one lime slice on the rim of my glass, I was given a small plate with five slices of lime. Therefore I was able to flavor my cold beverage according to my desire. The warm bread was delivered shortly thereafter, which I turned down because I was seeking a very manly, protein-laden meal that night. I ordered a wedge salad and it met my expectation. For my main course, I chose the 11oz filet cooked at medium rare minus. It was wonderful. I also enjoyed my two sides, asparagus and the amazing sweet potato casserole. The service was strong to quite strong. He refilled my beverage promptly 5-6 times during the experience. Earlier that day the gentleman that took my reservation over the phone was very polite. He said he was delighted to accept my reservation and that it would be his pleasure to have me later that evening. I believed him.

I've been to this restaurant multiple times and they've never disappointed. The service is spectacular and the steaks are cooked perfectly...if you, as a customer, know what true temperatures are, you won't be disappointed. The veal ravioli appetizer and the ahi tuna area favorites apps. The ribeye is the most delicious steak I've ever had. The bone in ribeye takes it a step higher! I'm sad they changed the bread pudding :( I miss the chocolate chips, but the new one is equally tasty. Even the coffee and coffee service is superior to the rest in town! Not stuffy or pretentious... Everyone is very welcoming and truly vested in providing the best dining experience possible... A++!!!

I had never been to a Ruth's Chris steakhouse before so I decided Dine O'Round would be a good time to check it out and to try three things off their menu for $30. The restaurant has a classy look to it and we were seated in a booth. Our server quite pleasantly told us the menu but never mentioned Dine O round. It was available and we ordered it. From then on our server was very disinterested in serving us, probably as he expected his tip would be lower. The Dine O round included a choice of two salads, a petite steak and a side and a small cheesecake. All were ok but not great. We found the wine selection poor and had some unusual choices for a steakhouse - my husband had a very sweet Cabernet Sauvignon from California. I said early in the evening that I would not eat the cheesecake and the waiter said I could maybe choose something additional from the dessert menu as he couldn't swap the cheesecake from the dessert menu. That was fine except when dessert arrived he just put the cheesecake in front of me and ignored it when he came to give us the check. I ended up asking for a to go box but as I wasn't going to eat it, it was a waste of food. Perhaps the service would be better on a non Dine O Round night but we use Dine O Round as a chance to try new places and it was a good opportunity gone to waste that the service was so uncomfortable. The food was ok but I think you could find a better steakhouse particularly when paying the normal menu prices.

Excellent. Which dish is excellent? Yes. Whether I'm eating here on the cheap during dine o'round, or celebrating a special occasion, I'm consistently taken back by just how great the steaks here. And it's not just the steaks. Sweet potato casserole - epic. Fresh asparagus (slathered in Hollandaise) - so amazing. Everything is great. The service is always perfect as well. Eat here.

I've been to this location many times, mostly for work, and every time I've come I've never been disappointed. The staff is great and attentive, and the food is to die for. I love the Ribeye. The meat is aged and cooked perfectly, rarely have I ever had a steak that compares. The sides are also good, like the potatoes au gratin. All in all, a wonderful place to take a date, to celebrate, or for just a night on the town. I look forward to the nights that I go here, and will continue to go here.

It's Ruth's Chris.. Good food (not high end restaurant chef prepared, but really good). Service is great. Steaks are cooked perfect (anyone complaining here should have said something, they will fix anything you are unhappy with). It's the McDonalds of 4 star dining, quite constant national chain great for business lunches when you are not familiar with the area.

Whatever is it about this venerable steakhouse that leaves it undeserving of a single Yelp review? My bet is most of my Felpers aren't accustomed to white tablecloth service, nor the feeling of being treated like a rock star for an evening even when every table in the dining room is filled with guests. Frankly, I'm sure most Felpers and Salt Lake folk are likely more comfortable in a place with a bar that pours PBRs for free-ninety-nine than in an 70's throwback steak joint. But that's ok because it leaves a table open for the rest of us. For the uninitiated Ruth's Chris is a steakhouse chain that has it's humble beginnings in NOLA about the same time I was learning to walk. Yes, that's a long time ago but it means this place has a history going back to when Don Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney first started concocting plans to take over the world. Luckily, more rational heads prevailed as did Ruth's little steak joint. Used to be you'd be required to wear a jacket at Ruth's but times have changed in this respect, as well. Though, on one visit we noticed a gentleman wearing his best Hanes I wouldn't suggest following his lead since you're going to drop a Ben Franklin and a few Alexander Hamilton's on your meal it might be nice to dress with a bit more aplomb-like on Sunday but not. You go to Ruth's Chris for the steaks of course They're big, like Texas big, a whole pound of beef flesh in one serving and you can kindly ask your server to split it at the table. Now if I had to suggest the perfect steak to enjoy when you're dining at this joint it would be the New York Strip, Strip or club steak (if you're visiting from the other side of the pond). The strip is a well-marbled piece of prime beef that comes from the short loin. Trust me, everyone goes for the tenderloin medallions but there's a reason they have to wrap that little baby in bacon. Without the bacon or some other pungent accompaniment this little-used muscle doesn't have much flavor on its own. Usually, in most parts of the world that is, you'll want to enjoy a little libation, and preferably a good red wine with your libra pondo of steak. Fear not, Ruth's has an extensive selection of some of the best wines for your dinner if you happen to lean that way. Granted Sister Holland would divorce me quicker than a New York minute if I even picked up the wine list; but it's fun to dream anyway. Since hopefully you're not planning to order a good ol' PBR as I so thoughtlessly suggested in my introductions you will find some beautiful bottles of such notable "high end" (don't you just love that term?!?) wines from Shafer, Hess and Caymus, among others. Ruth's Chis isn't a restaurant many of us would frequent on a regular basis, but if you're going to celebrate, this is the place. After the valet takes your vehicle safely off your hands for the evening, and as his assistant holds the door for you welcoming you and your party into Ruth's realm, the maître d'hôtel will take your coats and ask what you're celebrating for the evening. The answer to this simple question will set off a waterfall of surprises to come. Your table will have been decorated with confetti and a congratulatory card as you and your party are escorted to your assigned table. You'll also enjoy learning at the end of the meal that dessert is on Ruth. Throughout the meal, the staff will stop by asking about the reason for your good fortune as they serve and cater to your every desire. Ruth's Chris may not be the trendiest spot in Salt City but when a celebration calls for white tablecloths and a reason to get dressed up, it should be on your short list of places that'll make you feel special.

We were seated in a side room that was basically a fancy conference room--it had a tv (off) in it. I was really disappointed to spend almost $300 on a meal + tip and be seated in that kind of a room for that kind of money and it was my first time there. so that disappointed me even more. Food I was able to order was great--they were out of the salmon despite the fact we had a 5 pm dinner reservation, so I had to get the mahi-mahi and that was just OK; everything else was good. Our server was very nice. I honestly do not know if I will go back or recommend it to others based upon my experience there. There are other fine places here where I have had a better experience.

We had a work event at Ruth's Chris recently and it was excellent. We had the restaurant to ourselves and the staff took great care of us. I love the ambiance of Ruth's Chris, the modern furnishings and elegant decorations are posh but also comfortable and inviting. My steak was perfectly prepared and tasted great. It was tender and delicious! The cheese gratin potatoes were good but I didn't care for the spinach. Overall our event went great and the staff and management at Ruth's Chris were exceptional. If you're looking for a place to hot an important work event or lunch this is the place!

Where do I start! I have been to several different Ruths Chris and SLC is by far my favorite location. The staff is amazing they literally wait on you hand and foot. The butter is so good! Mm I love butter!! You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

The hubs & I go here when we want a GOOD rare steak that we KNOW will just melt in our mouths. The filet does NOT dissapoint! Wonderful service everytime. They treat you well if you're celebrating something! Don't forget to try the chocolate sin cake & the creme brulee.

I've been here once, never again. I ordered a filet medium rare. The first time it was brought to me rare. I sent it back. Second time it was brought to me rare again. I sent it back. Third time it can out well done, as if the restaurant (chef, waiter and manager) were spitting in my face. As if some sort of joke and the manager then told me I don't know what medium rare is. Appalling, especially considering the prices and the fact that my family is from Kansas City, I know my meat very well. They then charged me for the steak even though I didn't do anything but cut into the all 3 of the dishes or take any of it home. Horrendous, egotistic, pretentious, condescending, patronizing experience.

I have def. experienced better restaurants! The service in particular was terrible. It was so strange here and not very welcoming. The food was decent but not over the top. My favorite thing of the meal was the appetizer Ah Hi Tuna! I highly recommend this dish even though you may not think it would be that great since it's a Steakhouse. In fact the dish itself was a 4 star dish but the experience was 'Meh' so I have to give it a 2. I was here with a business colleague on a Tuesday night without reservations and as soon as walked in and asked for a table for two they said it would be over an hour wait unless we wanted to sit at the bar. We were so hungry from a long day of traveling so we were fine with sitting at the bar. We said yes and then in a matter of a minute the hostess said OK we have a table open now and we were led to a table. There were clearly plenty of tables open so I'm not really sure if a reservation just happened to cancel or if they decided that they didn't want us at the bar. I wasn't in the mood for a steak so I ordered the Stuffed Chicken. As soon as I said it the server said in a very snippy way ' Oh that's going to take at least 25 minutes to prepare. It's the slowest thing on our menu.' I still ordered it but it was the way he said it that really took me by surprise. Was he trying to upgrade my meal to a steak? The main course came out in about 15 minutes and as soon as the server placed it in front of me he proclaimed in a very stern tone; "don't touch this plate, it's 500 degrees.'" OK thanks so much for the warning buddy but how about follow it with something along the lines of enjoy your meal. Anyways... I did enjoy it but it was so greasy. At the bottom of the dish there was so much grease.

I reserve the right to change this, as this was the first high-class/quality steak I've ever eaten at a restaurant. But ho-lee crap. Was it ever delicious. I split a filet and the barbecued shrimp AND the asparagus with my girlfriend and a) it was the perfect amount of food. B) It was all scrumptious. I don't think I've ever eaten a steak that melted like butter under your knife and in your mouth. The shrimp sauce was tangy and finger-lickin' good (trademarked? Sorry KFC), and the asparagus was cooked perfectly. You get what you pay for and I hope sometime I make enough money to go back and try more from Ruth's Chris's menu.

Service was good. A little disappointed with the meal. The steak and salad were fine but not good enough to want to return. Atmosphere was great though. There are better steak houses in our area. Sorry to say this.

I've had my share of great food in my life and this place did not disappoint. The spicy lobster was absolutely incredible. I wouldn't consider it spicy but it was absolutely amazing. I got the petite filet and it was perfect.. The petit is 8 oz! Extremely tender and cooked perfectly. The salad was out of this world. Normally when I see purple onions in a salad I am skeptical. These ones were slightly fried but not greasy at all. Pair that with pecans, goats cheese, dried cherries, and a little bit of bacon and then cover it in an amazing vinaigrette!! Talk about mind blown!! The Mac and cheese is perfectly cooked and has a smoky flavor and just a little spice! Lastly the molten chocolate cake and chocolate cream they serve with it is out of this world!!! I wanted 5 more to go!!! Now for what I didn't love... My husband ordered the crab cakes.. and they were good but not great. I like a good crunch on the outside of my crab cakes and these did not have it. They were just mushy on your tongue. Great flavor but mush none the less. Also the au gratin potatoes are nothing to write home about. I make better ones at home. Overall totally worth the money.

I usually go with the filet, but this time I went with the stuffed chicken breast. It was the best dish I've ever had an RCSH, seriously. The sweet potato casserole was to die for. The only thing I wish they did was enforce some kind of dress code. Of the few dressed down customers, there was a lady wearing sweat shorts, a t-shirt and flip flops, seriously. When you're spending that kind of money on a nice meal, you don't want to see people dressed for a yard sale. I always thought dress codes were pompous, but when you see homeless looking people walking around a nice restaurant, it all makes sense.

Food- 4 stars Service- 4.5 Stars Wait time for food- 5 stars I'm not exactly sure who Chris or Ruth is but, I've had many friends tell me that Ruth's Chris had the best steaks they've ever eaten. It's definitely up there with some of the best steaks I've ever eaten, but not the best. The service is on point, very professional and knowledgeable about the menu. My drinks were never empty and I was never looking around trying to find my waiter for anything, Luis was an excellent waiter I ordered the ribeye medium, the steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly for my taste. My only complaint was my cut was a little more gristly than I like. The Potatoes Au Gratin were VERY good. The french onion soup was the best i've ever had. We ordered dessert and got the cheesecake, not the best I've ever had but, also very delicious. If you are in Salt Lake, looking for a classy delicious steakhouse. Look no further than Ruth's Chris. Tell them Aaron sent you... and they'll look at you with a smile on their face and say who the hell is Aaron?

I brought my friend here for his birthday for the first time. He really enjoyed the steak. They gave him a special birthday treat without us even asking them. Excellent service! The servers really made my experience to this restaurant a very pleasant one. I've been to this restaurant about 3 times. I've been impressed every single time. The steak is amazing! Mouth watering!

Overpriced and overrated steak. I get better steak from places like texas road house and rubys river with 1/3 of the cost. Services were horrible... Server didnt ask us how the steaks were until 20minutes after served.. Didnt fill up the water til the meal is almost done... Steaks quality taste like the lower grade meat... Overall dissatisfaction

For an early Valentine's Day dinner we went Ruth's Chris. The bread, the appetizers, the soup and entree was fantastic. Our filets sizzled and were so juicy. The waiter was informative, helpful and professional. Of course we were stuffed after a dinner like that but we had to have desert. The berries and cream were to outstanding. The price was, well, typical of Ruth Chris; but the total experience was worth it.

MMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!! So good! Pricey, so if someone else is paying, go for sure! The food comes to you still hot! The ribeye is AMAZING and the service is good. The mashed potatoes are really good too. I think they had some type of garlic in them as well. Soooo good! It's my new favorite restaurant!

We made it here one night to celebrate our anniversary. They called me in advance to confirm my reservation and asked me why I am visiting, which they ended up preparing the table with a nice little card that says Happy Anniversary and some flower pelts on the table, and our dessert had some nicely decorated words with chocolate on it too. Their dining area is set to dim lighting, which made the tables more private and quieter. Our server Kari was great to us for the entire night, and their manager checks in with each table a few times throughout the night. We ended up getting the Spicy Lobster for appetizer, New York Strips and Lamb Chop for entrees, and Crème Brûlée and their special Sin Cake for desserts. Well of course, the Spicy Lobster was not spicy to me, but it was just right for my wife. The meat was excellent, and the dish came with some sour veggies and a neatly wrapped lemon for extra sourness if needed. I thought they tasted great without the additional sour flavor, but they did make good sides for the dish. The New York Strip was fairly firm, cooked right, and tasty with a very large portion. The Lamb Chop came in three different pieces, and all three of them tasted a little different for some reasons. The first one was cooked right, firm, and delicious. The second piece was a little chewy and slightly overcooked. The third piece was slightly undercooked and tender with blood rushing into the plate for each cut dived into the meat. The Crème Brûlée had a very nice thin layer of cameral on top, and the custard tasted ok, not as good as the one I had in another place, and the fruit went well with the dish. The current special dessert Sin Cake was hard to describe in a good manner way, as it was a flourless chocolate cake with strawberry on the side. I am a fan of dark chocolate, but was still too chocolaty for me. Toward the second half of it, I felt like I was putting spoonful of feces in my mouth, and I did not end up finishing the cake. We did receive one complimentary dessert for our anniversary, so I am not complaining about the cake... If price is not a concern, Ruth's Chris is definitely the best steakhouse I have ever visited in Utah so far. I am definitely planning to visit them more often even on for non-special-occasion-events.

Very well cooked steak, arrived on a 500 degree plate of butter. Yum! But can only eat like this for special occasions. The sweet potato casserole and the broccoli gratin was rich and well made. Service was good, if a bit over attentive.

Beautiful restaurant, great service, but I am just not a huge fan of this chain. The steak is just fine but the sizzling plate schtick doesn't do a thing for me. The salads, in my opinion, aren't well-composed. But it's a steakhouse. OK, so the mushroom side dish, which was a special this evening, was a wild mushroom mix. In reality, it was basically overly salty, button mushrooms. The sweet potato side dish shoudl be labeled, sweet potato pie. It is way too sweet for my palate during dinner. The lump crabtini has beautiful crab in it, but the remoulade takes over the entire glass. The flavor was there, but I just don't understand drowing good ingredients in mayo or butter. I enjoy both fats, but there should be some restraint on the chef's part. This is my 2nd time dining at this establishment, and these are the same issues. I will stick to my local restaurants.

Great filet, service . Came here on business trip . Filet was cooked perfectly and tender. Yum .I like to have veggies for dinner too and ordered the broccoli which was cooked well . Love when a place respects the veggies. My only criticism is the price quite steep but service and food was good . If ya like steak and potatoes and font mind the prices thus is a good place. The bread pudding was delish too!!!

What can I say...the food was excellent. Tried something new this time & got the Veal Osso Buco Ravioli. It was delicious! Steaks & fish cooked perfectly and dessert was immaculate. The only thing that was slightly disappointing were the Potatoes au Gratin which were bland. Overall, great! Definitely a place you have to come when celebrating a special occasion!

I've thrown a few dinner parties in the private room, and its always top notch, classic Ruth's Chris. The food is always exactly as expected, and the service is attentive without being overbearing. I always feel well taken care of here, and can't wait to be back!

I had a dear friend take me here one evening and i was glad he did! Amazing food....no matter what steak you get it is perfectly cooked! The sides are excellent. The only downside I could possibly find is the outrageously high prices. But maybe that is a small price to pay for such amazing food.

Top of the line in every way. Yes, it's expensive, but you get every penny's worth. The staff is incredible and goes above and beyond to give new meaning to the word 'service'. Steaks arrived sizzling hot and cooked to perfection. The seared tuna appetizer had an amazing mustard sauce, and the asparagus side was perfectly tender-crisp.

There is no better steak experience to be found at a national restaurant chain than at Ruth's Chris. If you're lucky enough to dine when they feature the French onion soup, nobody makes it better (except my wife). The heart of palm, lettuce wedge, chopped or sliced tomato & onion salads are fresh and wholesome. The side plates (broiled tomatoes, creamed spinach, asparagus) are delectable and satisfying. The sautéed mushrooms are so meaty, it's like cutting a small steak. The potatoes (au gratin or mashed) are unbeatable. The ribeye steak (whether regular or cowboy) is simply INCOMPARABLE and without match. Best in the business. Stop looking around (forget Morton's, Del Frisco's, etc.). The cheesecake and créme brûlée desserts are simply icing on the cake of an unequaled dinner experience. The coffee is beautiful. And the service impeccable.

The mystery of why anyone would name a renowned steak chain "Ruth's Chris Steak House" has been solved. Oddly, this was my biggest question going in. Grammatically, it didn't make any sense to me, so I had to ask. Here's the short answer: Ruth Somebody bought the restaurant, formerly called Chris' Steak House. She renamed it to include her own name, while encorporating and maintaining the old name and reputation. There. I feel better. As far as atmosphere and ambience, R'sC leaves no stone unturned. It's an undeniably beautiful building, with an understated elegance that is both comfortable and posh. There is a vibe of ostentaciousness which is typical for upper-scale Utah restos, even though it's a chain. The wait staff plays their part well, and are trained as if they're working in a much more metropolitan city - impressive. It can come across as arrogance, especially to those patrons who are not familiar with the pomp and circumstance of these types of places. It's a fine line, catering to the hoity-toity'er crowd while remaining earthy enough for those of us who don't fit that moniker, I'm sure. The menu is focused on steak, obviously, but they have a few other entree choices to which I cannot speak. We all order steak here. There are so many good things about this restaurant, including the actual taste of their food. But...the pricing structure here is nuts. Honestly, I don't mind paying for great food, and I know how costly a nice cut of beef is. However, it's the deep cuts they make in my pocketbook which make me feel like I've been assaulted every time at R'sC. Do they do steak right? Yeah, sure. But so can I, on my unpretentious grill at home. And I don't need to add several tablespoons of butter to my newborn beef rendering it more appetizing, either. That's right, it's less appetizing. Wait...no. You know what I mean. There are at least two more reasons R'sC received three stars from me, instead of the four I would give to their food alone. One, there is a separate and significant charge for literally *everything* you want here. Oh, you want water? They don't ask, they just bring you a bottle of still or sparkling, which adds something like $4.50 to your bill. Someone in our party asked about getting a simple glass of ice water from whatever tap they obtain it, and they stated they "don't do that." And, two; any sides, like baked potato, dinner salad, veggies, etc. are ordered separately and charged separately. Really? A baked potato side will cost you $5. Seriously. Mashed potatoes? Sure thing - that'll be $6.95. Either way, I don't like it. It makes me feel nickeled and dimed by a place which, by all rights, should have it more together than that. Look, charge me $48 instead of $40 for the steak if you must. But don't make me think about the fact that I'm paying extra for Lyonnaise potatoes, creamed spinach, or asparagus. This does not promote food good-will. A few words about their wine list - it's one of the best I've seen anywhere in Utah. Wide variety of nice selections, with a few levels of quality choices. By the bottle, it's truly impressive. They offer far fewer choices by the glass. And you will pay dearly for whatever you choose. I've had some divine reds here, like one of the Willamette Valley Pinot Noirs (can't recall which though). They offer full bar services, which many of my friends enjoy. I'm a wino, myself, so I stick to that. Desserts at R'sC are a must-have. Do not miss their version of the New Orleans classic Bread Pudding. It's remarkable. Their unique Banana Cream Pie is also worthy of mention. They serve it with a topping of carmelized bananas. Fantastic. Overall, a very very nice dining experience. To me, however, this is truly a special occasion restaurant. If you're soon going to be proposing marriage, you'll be pleased with this choice. And hopefully you didn't spend too much on the ring, 'cause you're gonna need all extra pennies for the meal.

I eat a lot of steak in a lot of restaurants and off my grill. 45 bucks for a mediocre ribeye. Wow! Typical plastic boob and shiny suit wannabe house. I'd never been to a Ruth's Chris and I'll never go back if I don't have to. The steak was hot and well seasoned, but it lacked the texture and deep flavors of restaurant prime ribeye, underwhelmed for the price for sure. The baked potato, another almost 9 dollars was typical and under buttered and under sour creamed with just a few flakes of bacon bits and it was a heavy baker, no fluff to the potato at all. I didn't leave hungry, but the whole point of the place is to suck money out of wallets and barely deliver.

I can't say I have ever been disappointed with Ruth Chris --- and this occasion was great. Besides the fantastic service and excellent food --- what I really liked about this location were all the private rooms. Apparently this location used to be a bank, so there are several break-out rooms which is perfect for medium/large sized parties (great for business dinners).

The Porterhouse would be my choice if I had the choice for my one last meal on earth. Half New York and half Filet Mignon, this massive piece of meat is cooked to perfection with the bone in and with oodles of buttery richness. They also have a special server that comes out just to serve the Porterhouse on your plates. The asparagus with hollandaise was quite bland, but the broccoli au gratin and sweet potato side was delicious. Worth the price for that once in awhile special occasion.

Went for a company party. Ordered spicy lobster (awesome!), calamari (little too chewy), and ahi tuna with ginger (good) for appetizers. Three of us ordered the petite filet and shrimp. The shrimp have some flavorful spices, almost a cajun taste, very savory. Can't go wrong with the filet. Always cooked to perfection. The sizzling butter in the bottom of the plate just can't be beat. For sides everyone just loved the sweet potato casserole. We also had some asparagus (was ok) and mashed. All in all a great evening. I have never been let down at a Ruth's Chris and this time was no exception. They have a huge wine selection but limited beer choices.

I'm never disappointed with this place. The filet and ribeye were cooked perfectly. The au-gratin potatoes and garlic sautéed green beans were fresh and delicious, and the banana cream pie is amazing. I crave that banana cream pie! We had a perfect dinner.

I've been to this location several times and although the service can be good, their ability to appropriately cook a steak leaves a lot to be desired (med rare that was med well on both tries and a rare that was bleu rare. A test at the rare was after the med well visit). On one occasion there was a little lady bug in my wife's starter salad. Are the salads at Ruth's Chris just that fresh, or do they just have bugs in their food? Either way, although they were were a little apologetic, I've had the Arby's down the st do more to have me leave satisfied. Overall, it's a disappointment, which stings when you expect a special evening and spend that much.

I'm a fan of Ruth's Chris for sure...mostly because it's accessible, it's consistently good, and it's an overall pleasant experience. I generally order a pelite filet cooked medium rare and some sides. I recommend the sweet potato souffle thing (also great as a dessert a la mode) and the shoestring french fries. Seriously, your stomach with thank you. The service is great...a bit over the top, but I think I'd rather have that and not be neglected.

I just came back after having an awesome dinner experience at this place. Me and my wife decided to check this place out on Sunday. We had no reservations. On arriving the front desk was extremely nice and asked us was it a special occasion and we told them we had recently gotten married. After all the nice courtesies they gave us a nice table decorated with Rose petals and congrats card on it. The server Benjamin was great in explaining about the details of how they serve the steaks. He gave us good amount of space but also checked time to time how we were doing. They also gave us a complementary creme Brulé with congrats written on it. I will attach the picture here as well. The steak were perfectly done and taste delicious. I was reading a review on how the was grease on the plate but I think it does justice to the steak. It just makes it more awesome. I love how they serve the plate hot. It just makes the steak tastes great longer. After the dinner the lovely ladies at the front desk also helped us putting our coat back on. I would love to come back here whenever I am in town.

So my son and I like to have Dad and son go out and snarf on awesome grub day once a month and he chose Ruth's Chris. I've been watching my refined carb intake lately so I was trying to figure out how this was gonna work. We both ordered the Filet rare and creamed spinach. Steaks were perfect and spinach was insane. I like this place not only because of the tasty goodness of protein awesome but the ambiance makes you feel really special.

I've had Ruth Chris steaks in several cities...and my experience is always consistent. However, I don't think I can say the same about this location. The service was cordial....but a bit slow (understandably due to OR) But for whatever reason...my food just wasn't as good. I'd still give it a four stars...though..because even a mediocre steak at Ruth Chris is still way ahead of most steak joints.

We experienced Ruth's Chris as we were able to escape the kids for our anniversary. I say experienced as it is about the experience! We had a nice corner booth with candle light. The staff was wonderful and we felt well taken care of I made a reservation however it didn't appear to be too busy when we got there. Online reservation was quick and easy. Hubby is a steak lover so we both got the cowboy ribeye. Isn't that what you order when you go to a steak house? The sides are family style so one order of garlic mashed potatoes, ever so yummy almost melt in your mouth garlic butter flavor, was more than enough for the two of us. We also each had a chopped salad. Definitely get that. So yummy!! It had those crunchy fried onions on top. Yum! The steak was perfectly cooked. Looked and sounded so beautiful as it came out. The plates are super hot though. I burned my finger even though I knew better...when it's sizzling it's hot!!! Our only complaint was lack of flavor. If we go back (at this price tag we will only go for special kid-less occasions) we will order the steak with a flavor option. Texture and everything was great. We just needed a little more than salt pepper and butter for meat flavoring.

I was a little skeptical about going to Ruth's Chris Steak House as I rarely find the expensive steak houses are worth the price, and Ruth's was definitely pricey. First Since I found it nearly impossible to find prices for Ruth's here is a break down of a single person's Bill... Coke - $3.00 Filet - $41.00 Mashed Potatoes - $8.50 Cheesecake - $8.50 Total for the bill including a tip came out to roughly $66.00 for a single meal. Certainly expensive, but not as bad as I was expecting. Most entree's were around $40-50 and most additions (ie sides, salads, deserts, etc...) were roughly $8.50 each. Overall we had a party of 5 with a total bill around $321. Now for the break down of the meal I ordered... - Calamari: I really enjoy calamari so any time I try a new place that offers this option I always get it. The calamari has a sweet chili flavor that was actually very good. However, I found that the calamari was not well cooked, with several pieces a bit on the raw side (deducted the star for this). Admittedly calamari is a seafood and this is a steak joint, but still for the cost I was expecting a perfect experience. - Cowboy Ribeye (bone in): This is where Ruth's really shines. The steak was by far the best I have ever had. I have had steaks with more flavor, but the quality of the steak was very apparent though I am not sure I can clearly describe the difference. The best way is to probably compare the density of the meat. A normal steak in most restaurants has a standard density to it. It's not really tough, but not soft either. The steaks at Ruth's had a much softer (ie better) texture than any I have ever had. The quality of their steaks is the best I have had bar none. As for flavor, like I said I have had more flavor in a steak but it still had a great natural flavor to it and was by no means missing anything in the flavor department. I would definitely recommend the steak here, if you come to Ruth's and don't get the steak you are really missing out. We had several people get different types of steaks and all were spectacular. - Mashed Potatoes: Nothing really exciting to note here, they were good standard garlic mashed potatoes. - Chop Salad: I got Ruth's Chop Salad, I would say the flavor was bland, the mixture of items was overdone, and there were way too many mushrooms for my tastes. If I went again I would skip the salad. - Chicken: One member got the chicken and wasn't very pleased with it. I tried it and it had a nice tangy flavor to it. I really didn't mind the flavor, but it was not quite what I was expecting, but the person ordering it wasn't particularly happy with it. - Shrimp: We had several members get the Filet and Shrimp combo and they were all very pleased with this option. The shrimp much like the steaks are of superb quality with a great texture and feel and good flavors. - Banana Cream Pie: The deserts appear to be mini cakes (ie not slices). Overall I would give the banana cream pie an average rating. The crust was ok, but overworked making it a little stiff. The cream filling was average, and the banana's had a slightly odd flavor due to the caramelization. We had several people get the Cheesecake but I am not sure yet how they liked it as we all took our deserts to go. Service - The service was great, the wait staff was attentive but not overbearing. The place looked great, atmosphere was great, really nothing negative to say in either the restaurant or staff, it was all on par with what one would expect at a high end restaurant. Parking - Just FYI, they do have parking but there will be a $4.00 valet charge. Summary - Overall the experience was very favorable. The only complaint I had was with the Calamari being under cooked. Obviously this is a pricey dinner, but if you are interested in the best steaks you have ever had then this is the place to go. The cost would keep me from being a regular visitor, but I certainly wouldn't mind going back again some day.

We had our anniversary here and we had a wonderful time. It was one of the best meals that I have had at a restaurant in terms of service and food in a long time. My wife and I are not really big time meat eaters. So the steak was not the primary focus of the place for us. We shared a number of appetizers and spilt the filet. Had the berries and cream for dessert.

Alex our server made the experience great. Professional without being overbearing he discussed the menu options well. He also knew and understood wine pairings (a rarity amongst wait staff in Utah). I have dined at both this and the Park City location within the last Month. P.C. was good , but I would put this above most of these "Chain" locations.

My first visit to Ruth's Chris was this past Valentine's Day with my boyfriend. Our service was excellent - every staff member we passed as we entered welcomed us in or asked how we were. We were seating in a more private area of the restaurant and the ambience was fantastic. The lights were dimmed enough to feel romantic without making your eyes strain and the music was perfectly themed. Our waiter (who's name I wish I could remember!) was absolutely wonderful - some of the best attentative service I've ever experienced. He was intelligent, charismatic, knew how to present wine, and simply just made us feel happy to be there. Even the gentleman with the water, whose name I believe was Jose, was polite and graceful. My boyfriend had the filet and I ordered the petite filet. We both agree that they were the best steaks we've ever had. Tender, flavorful, crispy topping, juicy center - I could go on and on. We couldn't help but notice, however, that his filet and my petite filet were exaclty the same size. Either a mistake had been made on one of orders, or there simply isn't a difference between the two except the price. Regardless, they were phenomenal. On that note, I've heard nothing but decadent things about the porterhouse for two from friends and family. We ordered the creamed spinach and broccoli as our sides. The creamed spinach was by far the better of the two side dishes. The portions were huge on both dishes, but the broccoli was extremely bland and tough. Honestly, it was as if it was fresh picked from a farm and heated up in a microwave for a half-minute. We each only had one piece - it didn't fit with the rest of our wonderful meal. The wine selection at Ruth's Chris is fantastic, and although my boyfriend and I are not usually wine drinkers, riesling is my favorite (I know - it doesn't "go" with steak). The bottle we were served was wonderful. We both loved it, and even ordered an additional glass after we had finished our bottle. Overall, a perfect selection for our romantic evening. I highly recommend this outstanding location for it's superb service and steaks that would make other high-end steak houses green with envy.

I have been to other Ruth's chris locations and this place is swank. Few issues i have tho with this place. For one, the people eating here this night looked like they missed the stop to Sizzler! Im sorry but if Im paying al a carte for my meal, wouldn't you want to dress up a little? There also was a huge table that was really loud, like obnoxious loud. That woman high squeak gawking laugh that just runs shivers thru our body, ANNOYING. Our server was ok and his little helper guy was definitly on something because he was just buzzing. I mean i could feel his vibration, he was not right. My chopped salad came out dry even tho I asked for the house dressing on it and ranch on the side. My bf's crab cakes were really crabby and great. My petite filet was perfect. The asparagus came out dry with sauce on the side, I dont know why but it was. For being a "nice" place, I found it to be quite average.

Perfectly cooked steaks, super tasty shoestring fries, fresh and flavorful broccoli au-gratin. Seems to be a lot better than the last downtown locale - at least to me.

I finally had a chance to dine at Ruth's Chris after my wife raved about it for years. We decided to let the Valentine's Day crowd die and came in on the night of the 16th. First impression, impressive interior and the hosting staff was incredibly gracious and friendly. We were promptly seated even though we were about 10 minutes early of our reservation. After being seated, we ordered drinks and promptly afterwards were making our appetizer and entree orders. We started with the calamari, which was a tad sweet for my taste but delicious nonetheless. The caesar salad was good but nothing to right home about. Both my wife and I ordered the filet, she had the au gratin potatoes and I had the mashed. Needless to say, everything was fantastic. Both steaks were perfect, even though I had ordered it rare and my wife had ordered medium well. Be prepared if you request a steak rare, Ruth's Chris understands what that really means (unlike many other Utah steakhouses.) The steak was seared perfectly and cool to the touch through most of the center. Potatoes were both a hit, can't miss with either. For dessert we had the creme brulee, which I found to be good but I personally prefer Market Street's version. Service throughout the night was impeccable, our waiter was attentive and came around just enough to be helpful but not enough to be an annoyance. It's unfortunate that Tom T. had a bad experience, as the food here is fantastic. Probably a result of Valentine's night dining but there simply is no excuse for anything less than a fantastic experience when you are dishing out $200 or more for a meal. I was incredibly impressed with Ruth's Chris and would easily come here again if the occasion arises.

Went for our 20th wedding anniversary. Was anticipating a very good meal. Based on the reputation we were disappointed to be honest. Pros 1 Wait staff was great. 2 Specials ordered before 6:30 were a good value considering how much the food is here. Soup or salad, choice of 1 of 4 main courses and dessert. 3 Carribean lobster appetizer was tasty but was $25 4 My wifes filet was very good 5 Chocolate bread pudding was very good 6 Press coffee was good 7 Garlic green beans were cooked perfect and tasted great. Not overdone. Cons 1 My rib eye had what i would term a LOT of fat. WAY too much for the cost. I'm still surprised they served it. 2 Lobster bisque had a very strange ingredient that I've never tasted in any other lobster bisque anywhere. A strange aftertaste that is unrecognizable to us. I didn't finish it. 3 The bread that was served was ridiculously boring and bland. Small loaf of basically lightly crusted Wonderbread with no taste at all. Artisan bread is sorely needed. 4 Side of sautéed mushroom were slightly undercooked. Not soft at all and had that raw mushroom taste. An expensive appetizer added to a $49 per person early bird value meal, 1 glass of wine totaled $148 before tip. For that price everything should be perfect. It wasn't close.

Lame, even by Utah standards. I give it proximity to our hotel, and I enjoyed eavesdropping on self-important douchebags, but the food sucked and was too expensive.

Great food, but a tad on the overpriced side. Come for the atmosphere. Bar food items are half off during happy hour.

I ate here at the bar on a business trip and had the salmon special. I know this is a steak house but I still expect the fish to be good. However, my salmon was so fishy I couldn't eat but one bite. I ate the side of vegetables instead. I wish the bartender would have asked me how it was so I could have told him. Or, maybe he already knew, hence the reason he kept quiet. Who knows, but I hope the steak is fresher than the salmon. If I go back, I'll be ordering something different and never the salmon again.

This place is always fantastic! Just a quick update. Had another fantastic steak. The best deal is to go before 6:30 pm. You will save a lot of money and they let you substitute on the sides & deserts for a few dollars more. The only people that don't like this place are the people that have too high expectations for any restaurant.

My wife and I went here for our one year anniversary. We love Ruth's Chris, we have been to the one in park city several times before but this was our first time at the one downtown. Service was amazing. We both order the filet which was melt in your mouth good. They gave us a free desert for our anniversary which was very good, and they also flowered our table with rose pedals to make the evening more romantic. It is defiantly worth the money to eat here. We will be going back soon.

I travel alot and Hunt less often than Id like. But as a hunter and meat eater, Ive had alot of venison. Both in family kitchens and in resturants. The farm raised venison that Ruth's Chris served is by far the best i have ever had. We were a party of 20 and the service was outstanding. Food is always good (as expected). But with that much going on at one table, there is lots of room for error. None encountered here... Flawless. Lobster Bisque was a touch salty, but the flavor was amazing. So good that I came back with a party of 6 the following night.

Although Ruth's Chris is hardly a favorite outside of Utah, here it is probably the best you can get. You will find the service to be better than most nice restaurants in Utah and the food will be to your liking or they will do whatever it takes to make it so. The price really isn't bad for the style of restaurant but if you don't know steak then don't go here because you will likely be upset.

Ok, so I have had mixed reviews with Ruth's after several visit. The service is great, the ambience is what you would expect in an upscale steak house. My only gripe is the inconsistency with the steaks. I have had amazing steaks and decent steaks. Same cuts, same restaurant and probably the same chef. Why the inconsistency?? Sure 40 bucks for a steak isn't too expensive, but, at the same time it's expensive enough that it should at least be consistent. This ultimately is what will keep me away from Ruth's, but, not when the company is paying. Which is why I keep going back.

Had a great date night with my wife here last night. Our server was super friendly and offered great suggestions. She recommend an amazing bottle of wine at a reasonable cost that I would have never selected on my own. The filet and crab legs were the special and were both very good. They even table side de-shelled my king crab for me so there was no work or mess...a very nice touch. Eating is at fine dining is about both the food & experience. Ruth's Chris nailed both last night for us!

A welcome return of the finest steak franchise in the US to the sprouting metropolis of Salt Lake City. I highly recommend the crab-tini's for an appetizer, and the cheesecake for dessert. You can't go wrong with the side dishes or steak obviously, so you're on your own there. We recently ate at Flemmings in Salt Lake, and had a very average expensive meal, so this is a welcome site. If you're in search for a solid meal for a special occasion, you can't go wrong here.

CAN WE ADD A -1 STAR RATING? We had reservations on a Sunday for our Valentine's day dinner. With it being a Sunday in Utah, the place wasn't filled to capacity at all. This was our first time eating at Ruth's Chris. Where to start? We had reservations and the hosts were very friendly and promptly seated us at our table. That was probably the highlight of the evening. It took them forever to come back and take our wine order. After several of my hairs turned gray, our server came back to take our dinner order. This is where RC gets 1 star. When we did see our server, he was friendly and polite delivering the level of service you'd expect from a high end establishment like RC. The only problem was that we hardly ever saw him, -1 star. The section of the restaurant we sat in was about 1/2 occupied. The booths on the south side were filled with couples but the booths on the north side were empty. We were seated in the middle area where only 3 of the 4 tables were occupied. For a high end establishment like there, there should be NO EXCUSE for such slow service EVEN WHEN the restaurant is filled to peak capacity, let alone 50% capacity. Now, unless there was a football game going on that night, and he was in the back kitchen watching so he could give me a play-by-play update, then SERIOUSLY...NO EXCUSE. When our wine came, I tasted the wine and my glass smelled like dirty dish water. I checked my girlfriend's glass and her's had no foul odor. I asked for another glass and received another one with the same odor. I didn't see the point in asking again for another glass and simply tolerated the glass I was given. When you're paying $10 for a glass of red and put your nose in to appreciate the aroma but get a whiff of dirty dish water instead, it kind of ruins the experience. -1 star Our salads came slow -1 star and but it was tasty, +1 star. I was surprised that we didn't get a bread basket, -1 star. My girlfriend loves bread, so we asked for a bread basket and they said they would bring one out. We continued with and finished our salad and still no bread. Now, if I'm eating at some crappy cheap place like TGI Fridays, I'm not surprised by flaky service, but at a place where $200+ dinner tabs are the norm, this is TOTALLY unacceptable. In a high end place like this, your customers shouldn't even have to ask for it. -1 star. When our main course came, it was sizzling hot and the aroma of the melted butter was amazing! The fillet mignon itself was good but nothing outstanding. Honestly, it was not as tender as I've had at other restaurants. I would love to have added 3-5 stars for the main attraction of this restaurant, but in lieu of the aforementioned, I have to cut it down to a +2 star rating, and that's mostly due to the sizzling butter. Speaking of that, the seared outside of the fillet and the butter combined to make an amazing sauce to dip some bread into, so we asked again (for a SECOND TIME) for some bread. As before, we were promised bread and, as before, we ended up finishing our main course without any bread. I was starting to feel like I was at Sizzler's or Texas Roadhouse. When we were ready for dessert, we ended up waiting for another 10-15 minutes. Finally, as soon as someone came by (the water girl), I asked if we could order dessert. Our server didn't even come back with our dessert, it was the water girl that served it to us. -1 star However, the desert was good and worthy of +1 star. Would we come back? Never. Is Ruth's Chris overrated? Yes.

Good steaks, Good sides, excellent wait staff made for a nice if not quite spectacular evening. I have never been to a Ruth's Chris before but decided to try it for a recent anniversary. My wife and I usually go to more chef driven establishments than this for special occasions but decided to try Ruth's. I had made 7 pm Saturday reservations and the restaurant had called earlier in the day to confirm. We arrived a couple of minutes before 7 to a packed lobby. We gave the hostess our name and she said it would be a minute. After 20 minutes, we were finally called to our table. Besides this this somewhat annoying seating issue, the rest of the service was near perfect. We ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna appetizer which was pretty good even though the pepper crust and strong mustard sauce was a bit overpowering for the fish. Based on recommendations from our servicer, we ordered a nice cab wine that wasn't marked up exorbitantly. They had a price fixed menu available and my wife and I both ordered from it. Salad course, I got the Caesar salad. It was an ehh salad. it was overdressed with a couple of sad looking half cherry tomatoes and croutons siting near the side. My wife said that the asparagus and hearts of palm was good. Steaks came out and they were very big. I didn't ask but I would guess that they were about 12 oz. They were well marbled but could have been butchered a bit better. They were cooked to perfection. I ordered medium rare and my wife rare and it was one of the better cooked steaks I have ever had. Neither of us finished our steaks because of the size. We ordered the mash potatoes and the bacon glazed Brussels spouts for sides. The mash potatoes were perfect in texture but though they were called garlic, I didn't detect much garlic in them. The brussels sprouts were a bit greasy and overly sweet. I didn't care for them much. The menu included a mini desert and because it was our anniversary, the restaurant upgraded us from the price fixed menu desert to the regular desert menu We ordered the cheesecake and the apple crisp. One note is that both of the deserts were HUGE. If actually buying them, I wouldn't have wanted more than 1. The apple crisp had a good flavor though it was a bit sweet. The cheesecake was very good all around. The restaurant is very nice looking if a bit noisy. This was a solid night of eating and service but the wait and some of the missteps around the wait, the sides and salads makes this not quite worth the high prices. I would go back if someone else was picking up the bill.

The service is great, the ambience is what you would expect in an upscale restaurant for sure but, besides regular meal everything else is little pricey.. their ribeye is extremely good with blue cheese crust.. and vine list they have is amazing !

Great Saturday late night dinner fantastic service and perfect food. We both enjoyed filets, garlic mashed potatoes, French fries, sauteed mushrooms and outstanding Martinis. Much better than many other Ruth's Chris locations. Most are independently owned and operated. This one is well run, unlike the one in Maui, HI

I have been to a couple different Ruths Chris locations and consistently, they are the best. They really do set the standard for for a fine dining steak house. My husband and I each ordered the Filet and both were cooked PERFECTLY. We also got 2 different potato dishes and both were spectacular. I love the desert we ordered, the creme brulee. He thinks Market Street's is better but I have to disagree. The service, atmosphere and accommodations were all perfect. The valet parking was great and we were promptly greeted when we came in and even seated earlier than our reservation time. Our waiter was wonderful and polite and checked up on us frequently. This is a great place for special occasions or more frequently than that if you have 150 to spend on dinner often. Delicious. We will be back again when the occasion arises.

This was my first trip to Ruth's for dinner. And just like lunch it was phenomenal. As always....yes it was very spendy, but well worth the trip once or twice a year. Started off with the veal ravioli which was cooked perfectly and very tasty. Second course was a Cesar salad, good but nothing to write home about. For the entree I ordered the new york strip, cooked perfectly. The thing I love a about Ruth's is the plate they serve your meat on is very hot. So as you enjoy your steak it never gets cold. But be mindful of that at the same time. Make sure you don't touch the plate. As a side I ordered the sweet potato casserole. It was a very nice compliment to the steak. And finally for desert I had the chocolate sin cake. Very good and not to sweet, which I love. Great service and an overall great experience.

When it comes to Steak Houses it takes a lot to impress me. In the past I have sampled Carvers, Flemings and now Ruths Chris. And I can honestly say Ruth Chris is one of the best steak houses I have been to. The service is spectacular. Carvers should take a page out of Ruth's Chris book. The waitress was knowledgeable about the food and cuts of meat. As one should expect at this price range, but its just not the service or food but the total dining experience. The attention to detail is what makes Ruth's Chris a pleasure. From the heated plates to the vast wine selection. I would definitely recommend Ruth's Chris any day.

As we walked to the door the Valet ran from his post to open it for us, and as we walked in the hostess and manager greeted us. We sat at the bar where we ordered mixed drinks and carpaccio From Dax. The server brought us ceviche on accident (I'm not sure if it was our mistake or there's, but they took responsibility for it regardless.) We ate the Ceviche and then the Carpaccio and it was amazing! The atmosphere is great. Private rooms for big parties. Great food and great service.

Best overall steakhouse in quality and service goes to Ruth's Chris :) I've been here a number of times and the steaks are always seasoned beautifully, cooked to perfection (med-rare as a steak should be), and melt in your mouth. The side dishes aren't much to write home about and their salads are pretty good. I haven't had one appetizer that wasn't worth ordering again and they have the best dessert in the galaxy: a molten lava chocolate cake garnished with fresh berries and a shot glass of chocolate custard topped with whip cream. It's rich and delicious--death by chocolate at it's finest! The staff is always very friendly and accomodating. I would eat here everyday if I could! Also, this is the best food for your money--still a pricey steakhouse but less expensive than Donovan's or Spencer's and food on par (even slightly better--because the steaks are seasoned better) with Donovan's. If I could treat everyone in the world to a dinner at Ruth's Chris, I'd do it in a heartbeat!
